On October 15th, Cavenwell Group Director Chris Usher had the opportunity to speak at a face-to-face event at the Royal Yacht in Jersey, where he examined the latest wealth structuring developments in Dubai, particularly in the DIFC. The event attracted over 70 professionals from the wealth management, legal, and family office sectors, providing a vibrant platform for sharing insights and practical strategies.
The day began with a presentation from Ali Hassan of DIFC Authority, who did an excellent job outlining the regulatory and structural developments in the DIFC. His presentation emphasised how the DIFC is positioning itself as a global hub for wealth management, especially in light of its robust and ever-evolving regulatory framework. Ali provided the audience with a clear understanding of how these changes present new opportunities for clients looking to structure their assets in Dubai.
In Chris Ushers session, he focused on how these developments translate into real-world applications, particularly for Jersey-based service providers. As part of Cavenwell Group, he has a particular interest in how we can bridge the wealth structuring strengths of both Jersey and Dubai. Chris explored the various ways in which Jersey-based service providers can collaborate with Cavenwell Group and the DIFC to create comprehensive private client solutions that utilise the best of both jurisdictions.
Jersey’s well-established reputation as a secure, tax-efficient jurisdiction complements Dubai’s DIFC offerings. Chris highlighted the opportunities for combining these strengths in private client planning. For instance, high-net-worth individuals and families could benefit from a dual-structured approach, using Jersey for trust and foundation services, while leveraging Dubai for local asset protection and investment vehicles. This integrated approach can provide enhanced flexibility, tax efficiency, and protection for international clients.
The audience was highly engaged, particularly when it came to discussing the potential for collaboration between Jersey and Dubai. Many of the attendees, being Jersey-based, were keen to understand how they could work with us at Cavenwell Group to integrate DIFC structures into their existing client portfolios. Chris and Ali explored practical examples and case studies of how such cross-jurisdictional strategies have already been successfully implemented, offering real benefits to private clients seeking robust, multi-jurisdictional wealth structuring solutions.
One of the key takeaways from the event was the growing recognition that international collaboration is essential for delivering the best outcomes in wealth management. The combination of Jersey’s established legal framework and Dubai’s rapidly growing DIFC makes for a powerful toolkit in today’s global wealth structuring landscape.
The interactive nature of the event, with so many thoughtful questions from the audience, made for a rich and rewarding discussion. Chris was particularly impressed by the willingness of Jersey professionals to explore new ways of working with Dubai, recognising the increasing demand for global, multi-jurisdictional solutions in the private client sector.
In addition to the presentations, the networking sessions were highly valuable. Many attendees expressed strong interest in further discussions around how we at Cavenwell Group can collaborate with Jersey service providers to deliver holistic wealth structuring solutions. We are optimistic that this event will spark new partnerships and opportunities, as it became clear that combining Jersey’s expertise with Dubai’s evolving wealth management landscape can offer clients the best of both worlds.
Overall, the event was a great success. It reinforced the importance of staying connected across jurisdictions and highlighted how Jersey and Dubai can work together to meet the evolving needs of global private clients. We look forward to continuing these conversations and building on the momentum from this event.
